Pregnenolone or Progesterone? in Health and Fitness : Women's Health

Topic: Pregnenolone or Progesterone?

Message: I am a 41 y.o. female. My saliva test indicate overall low cortisol (adrenal exhaustion), low DHEAS, and low estriadol. I wonder if the DHEA I am starting tomorrow will correct the low estriadol or do I need to supplement w/Preg or Progesterone? Research thus far has not been very clear as to which one of these would be best for low Estriadol. Thanks in advance.kdh

Topic: Question about hair loss/thinning

Message: I think I have solved my problem. I have been taking Benadryl almost every night for the past several months. I stopped taking it 4 nights ago, and ever since stopping it, my hair has started to feel so much better! It's not 100% back to normal yet, but the thickness and fullness are already starting to come back and it is a lot stronger! I guess I will not be taking Benadryl anymore! :worthy:

Topic: Question about hair loss/thinning

Message: I am a 26-year-old active female who has always had VERY thick and very full hair my entire life until just a few months ago, when I noticed that my hair was a lot thinner and seemed to be breaking off very easily. Usually, if I run my hand through my hair, I will pull out one or two strands. I have no idea what has brought this on. My hair has always been so thick that it was almost annoying since I always needed to have it thinned by my stylist. Now, it is the complete opposite. I do work in health care, so I was thinking of several possibilities, including stress or possibly even hypothyroidism, but I actually feel just fine otherwise and I don't really have any other physical symptoms or complaints at all. I will admit, though, that around the time that this all started, I started having problems with anxiety, especially since my job can be fairly stressful, which tends to exacerbate it a great deal. I have always been a somewhat anxious person, but it seems to be much worse lately. I feel anxious more often than not, and any little thing seems to trigger it. This all started happening shortly after I turned 26 back in September. I was fine before then. Can anxiety problems cause these types of hair problems? I don't take any medications other than a daily multivitamin and an occasional antihistamine for allergies when they flare up. I have tried different types of shampoos, but nothing seems to be making a difference. I am totally confused about this. Any ideas or suggestions?

Graviola-Max in Health and Fitness : Women's Health

Topic: Graviola-Max

Message: - All parts of the graviola tree are used in natural medicine in the tropics, including the bark, leaves, roots, fruit, and fruit seeds. Different properties and uses are attributed to the different parts of the tree. Generally, the fruit and fruit juice are taken for worms and parasites, to cool fevers, to increase mother's milk after childbirth, and as an astringent for diarrhea and dysentery. The crushed seeds are used against internal and external parasites, head lice, and worms. The bark, leaves, and roots are considered sedative, antispasmodic, hypotensive, and nervine, and a tea is made for various disorders toward those effects. Graviola contains chemicals that have anti tumorous properties. It has the ability to protect from those problems that are caused by harmful organisms.

Hot Flashes? in Health and Fitness : Women's Health

Topic: Hot Flashes?

Message: Hot flashes is a symptom of the changing hormone levels that are considered to be characteristic of menopause. You have many options when it comes to managing hot flashes, ranging from lifestyle modifications to prescription medications. Hot flashes can descend on you at any time, leaving you sweaty and red-faced. But they're quite common — as many as three out of every four women experience hot flashes as they go through the menopausal transition. Hot flashes are typically experienced as a feeling of intense heat with sweating and rapid heartbeat, and may typically last from two to thirty minutes for each occurrence. The event may be repeated a few times each week or constantly throughout the day, with the frequency reducing over time. Excessive flushing can lead to rosacea.Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) may relieve many of the symptoms of menopause. However, HRT increases the risk of breast cancer, stroke, and dementia and has other potentially serious short-term and long-term risks. The U.S. FDA and women's health advocates recommend that women who experience hot flashes try alternatives to hormonal therapies as the first line of treatment. If a woman chooses hormones, they suggest she take the lowest dose that alleviates her symptoms for as short a time as possible. In addition to traditional hormone replacement therapies, there are other strategies and natural supplements available to try.

A bit desperate.. in Health and Fitness : Women's Health

Topic: A bit desperate..

Message: Hi I have seen lots of questions about birth control so I'm sorry to add another, but I am a starting to get a bit desperate and need some opinions. I started taking the pill about 5 years ago, starting with a low hormone dose pill, then moving to a medium dose pill because I would start bleeding a week before my period was supposed to begin and bleed for 2 weeks straight. I moved to the patch after about 1.5 years on the pill and that worked great, but with all the health concerns (high risk of blood clots and heart attack) I switched back to the pill about 4 months ago and the bleeding has begun again I am thinking of going to the depo shot but am afraid to b/c I have heard lots of things about complications trying to get pregnant later and gaining tons of weight. I know this is selfish, but it is summer I have been working hard at the gym to lose weight! Has anyone tried the shot and have any good or bad things to say about it, or have you had a similar problem and found something to help? I appreciate any advice you guys can offer. Thanks!
