Americans are OVERWEIGHTS in Health and Fitness : Weight Loss

Topic: Americans are OVERWEIGHTS

Message: Americans are overweight. Is dietary fat the reason? Previous generations often consumed higher percentages of dietary fat than many overweight people do today yet did not suffer from obesity. Despite eating low fat foods, the fat epidemic continues unabated. Why? One reason may be the decrease of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) in the diet that is the result of the trend towards “low-fat” and red meat-free diets. Fat that is not used for energy production is converted into new stored fat cells. CLA is essential for the transport of dietary fat into cells where it is used to build muscle and produce energy. The primary dietary sources of CLA are beef and milk.

Topic: Red Yeast Rice

Message: Red Yeast Rice is rice that has been fermented by the red yeast, Monascus purpureus. It has been used by the Chinese for many centuries as a food preservative, food colorant (it is responsible for the red color of Peking duck), spice, and ingredient in rice wine. Red yeast rice continues to be a dietary staple in China, Japan, and Asian communities in the United States, with an estimated average consumption of 14 to 55 grams of red yeast rice per day per person.Red yeast rice also has been used in China for over 1,000 years for medicinal purposes. Red yeast rice was described in an ancient Chinese list of drugs as useful for improving blood circulation and for alleviating indigestion and diarrhea.Recently, red yeast rice has been developed by Chinese and American scientists as a product to lower blood lipids, including cholesterol and triglycerides. Since the 1970s, human studies have reported that red yeast lowers blood levels of total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein/LDL ("bad cholesterol"), and triglyceride levels.

drinking water to burn calories in Health and Fitness : Weight Loss

Topic: drinking water to burn calories

Message: More than 70% of your body is made up of water. Water keeps your body at the right temperature and it carries nutrients to the cells. In addition, water is important for protecting your organs and tissues. That is why it is important to keep "hydrated" (hydrated comes from the Greek word "hydro" that means water). There are a variety of reasons to drink plenty of water each day. Adequate water intake prevents dehydration, cleans out the body, and promotes healing processes. Water suppresses the appetite naturally and helps the body metabolize stored fat. At 1st determine how much water you need. You've probably heard the "8 X 8" rule--drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day--but the amount of water a person needs varies depending on his or her weight and activity level. A better way to determine your recommended water intake is to divide your weight (in pounds) by two. The resulting number is the number of ounces of water you need each day. If you find that you're drinking less than the recommended quantity, ask your husband and kids about the importance of water and try to maintain them some of the following tips: *Make a bet with a co-worker to see who can drink more water in the course of a day. Carry water with you everywhere you go in a bottle or other container. Before long, you'll find yourself reaching for it without a second thought.*Keep a glass or cup of water next to you whenever you'll be sitting down for a long time*Try wearing a digital watch that beeps at the beginning of each hour. Use that as a reminder to pour yourself a glass of water. you may find that tap water leaves a bad taste in your mouth.*If you really can't stand the taste of your water, try adding a tiny bit of fruit juice or a squeeze of lemon or lime--just enough to slightly change the taste. Refrigerating your water may also help make it more palatable. If you don't like the taste of water try hot water. It's a different taste and it feels good on your throat.*Have a big glass of water at every transitional point of the day. Drinking a full glass of water first thing in the morning helps wake the body up. So kick-start your day with water.*Water helps you look good. By flushing out toxins and impurities, water can make your skin clearer, smoother and younger looking. *Drinking water helps you control hunger. Drink a large glass of ice water 20 minutes before meals. The cold causes your stomach to shrink somewhat, which will make you feel full more rapidly. *Drink two full glasses at each meal, one before and one after. Also, drink one glass before each snack so you don't eat as much. *When you have a junk-food craving, down a glass of water immediately. You feel full quickly and avoid the calories, and it lets time pass till the craving fades. *Try getting a really fun water bottle that you enjoy having around; it makes drinking water more fun*It has recently been proven that tea is as good as or even healthier than water and can extend one's life by a few years.

Topic: drinking water to burn calories

Message: i was reading that you can burn calories by drinking ice cold water. it said that if you drink ice cold water it takes more energy for your body to warm it up to bring it to the correct temperature so that the body can properly process it. i was unaware that i was already doing this but thought it would be some neat information to share. i do have a quick question i have been trying to get my husband and kids to drink more water and i am have not such good luck. they say because of no flavor. does anyone have any ideas how i could get them to drink more water without all the sugar and all the other junk that soda and juices have in it. thanks.

This is month of fasting in Health and Fitness : Weight Loss

Topic: This is month of fasting

Message: Well, fasting is a difficult time but it can become actually quite enjoyable (at least in my case it was). I have decided to use that time to lose some weight and went for a Intragastric Balloon insertion with a company called Prague Beauty (it was abroad but I got a wonderful time in Prague, really). It took just one day and did not even hurt! I have experiencing some vomitting but that dissapeared soon and during fasting I have lost a lot of weight because I did not even feel hungry. So, I can recommend this although it cost some money.

I want to loose some weight in Health and Fitness : Weight Loss

Topic: I want to loose some weight

Message: Hello, I have the same problem with my weight. I know I eat too much and have not enough movement, but that's just the lifestyle I cannot change easily. So I have rather tried a cosmetic surgery (liposuction) abroad with a reasonably cheap company (Prague Beauty it was called) with a really professional service and I had a great time in Prague and got rid of a lot of fat. Currently, I am still several stones overweight but trying hard to stick with the diet recommended by that company. It is more about how you can control yourself but if that does not work, you can also use the aid of professionals. Sorry that I cannot help you more as this is one of my biggest personal problems too ;(
