Hello. I'm wondering if anyone has any helpful advice about a problem I have been suffering from for about a decade. It concerns my right eye. Its default state appears to be red. It is usually worst when I get up in the morning. It is completely bloodshot . By contrast, my left eye is fine. To make my right eye look better/socially acceptable, I apply a drop of Visine. This solves the problem temporarily, however during the day I will feel the effects of the Visine wearing off, and I can tell that my eye is returning to its red state even without looking in a mirror. I have thus been applying Visine several times a day for many many years. Basically, I'm sick of having to put drops in all the time, and I have heard that sustained use is not good for you. I went to an eye doctor many years ago, but they didn't seem to find anything out of the ordinary. I heard that Bono from U2 (usually wears sunglasses ) suffers from something similar to this  (hence the sunglasses). Sunglasses will sometimes work for me, but not all year round, and it just masks the problem. Does anyone have any info on
a) details of Bono's problem so that I can tell whether my case is similar
b) what might be causing my problem
c) courses of action I could take?
Additionally, when I was about a year old, I had some kind of operation and it affected my sympathetic nerve. Thus my pupils are sometimes different sizes :(. This causes me no discomfort, it's just doctors seem to notice it sometimes when looking at my face.
Please help me as I am sick of having to put up with this and I feel it is impeding me socially :/.
Thankyou in advance.

I think actually its nothing but like an allergic conjunctivitis .At 1st  you can try with oral antihistamine like- Loratadine (brand names: Alavert, Claritin) for few days. It is OTC class of  drug . You can get. it without prescription.Already you used  a drop for long time whatever you didn't mention . It seems it might be an anti allergic drop.

Its nothing to be worried so. Anyone can get it. Always try to avoid food or other allergen whatever you have particulat allergy of that irritant.Keep it in mind that initially your doctor will prescribe you least potent drug. There is so many  choice of drug according to severity of the condition. If one type drop failed he must consider any other option. Contact with your physician.
