hey, my son was born with high-grade talipes of the left foot. It was twisted up and under. At 3 days old the ortho boys 'created' a foot for him complete with heel. Thus began the long (and as yet unfinished) process of casting and recasting every week, and then every other week. At 5 mths he had a tendon release and then into d-b boots. He HATES them! It wasn't so bad before he could crawl or walk.... but during a break of only 4 weeks he walked! At 10 months he walked and since then the boots have become his enemy. We are supposed to have them on for 8 hours a day, but are lucky to get 3 before he passes out from screaming. He is fine while I hold him or we drive around, but I also have a 3 yro old and a 12 yro. My hubby works 10 hr days as a tradesman (house painter) so he is gone from dawn to late afternoon, so he's not much help except on weekends. Our surgeon has said surgery to cross over the tendon is viable but not until he is 3 yrs old. That's a whole year away.......... If anyone has any suggestions or advice or even similar experiences I would like to know. I tend to feel a little isolated at times.:(
